A Saturday Family Adventure

Cole wakes up most mornings and asks us, "Is it going to be a family day?". He loves our family days as he knows it will include a family adventure of some kind. The Burlington area always has exciting events going on from farmer's markets, festivals, community open houses, free concerts and much more. People are always asking us how we know about all the events we go to. Many of them are from word of mouth, organized meet-ups, and websites like findandgoseek.net. Last weekend we wanted to check out a Vermont State Park and decided on Button Bay. Since we were headed down to the Vergennes area I thought I would see if there was anything else happening down that way and sure enough there was...an open house at the Vergennes Rescue Station. There was a bouncy house, corn digging box, face painting, scavenger hunt, free BBQ and more. The boys had a blast especially playing in the big corn digging box...they could have stayed there all day. We spent much longer than we had anticipated and learned while we were there that Button Bay State Park now has a new swimming pool with a gradual entry perfect for the kids. It was a warm afternoon so we convinced Cole to leave the corn play for a swim in the pool at Button Bay. Ken and I purchased season passes to the Vermont State Parks for $25 each this year (the boys are still free) and it has been fun checking out all the Vermont State Parks have to offer. A cheap way to enjoy the Vermont outdoors! We are looking forward to taking the boys to other Vermont State Parks before the summer is finished!
