We started our Fourth of July Holiday with swim lessons for the boys at the Maple Street Pool in Essex Junction. It was a cold July morning...feeling a bit like October, but when you live in Vermont and need to learn to swim...the lessons go on! Much to our surprise, the clouds broke when we arrived to the pool and the warmth of the sun was actually felt on your skin! The boys enjoyed the lessons, a quick dry off with the towel, into dry clothes, and we were off to the Colchester Parade. It was awesome! We had prime seats through my friends Nicole and John who are friends with this super sweet lady, MaryAnn, who has a beautiful home with a large shaded front lawn in the Colchester Village. It's funny, as I have been by this home every year I have watched the Colchester Parade and thought that it always looked like the place to be to watch it from! They had the BBQ fired up with hot dogs for everyone and lots of other great food. Thanks again MaryAnn for having us. It was sunny and warm for the parade.
After the parade, the boys were exhausted, so we went home to rest up for the rest of the day. Next, we were off to a neighborhood BBQ. The kids had a blast playing with the other kids. The BBQ quickly moved from outside to in as a cold front moved in. We have had some very unpredictable weather in Vermont over the past week.
Next, we were off to meet friends at Snowfarm, for a concert in the vineyard. We were bundled up with long pants and shirts...that is everyone except Cole...as he insisted on wearing his shorts to the concert. Can you guess who was freezing cold at the concert??? We enjoyed wine, the company of friends, running after Cole and keeping Sawyer out of trouble! No night at the vineyard is complete without stopping for icecream at Seb's on the way home...even though we were already chilled! We ended our fun and very busy Fourth watching the Milton fireworks with the boys from our bedroom, where we had a perfect view! Today...the boys are exhausted!
